Following the great success of today’s event ‘In conversation with Professor Kypros Nicolaides’, we are delighted and truly honoured to announce that Professor Nicolaides will be the Patron of CMS UK. During the same event, Mr Photiou (the Presidential Commissioner for Oversees Cypriots) announced for the first time that President Anastasiades will award the Grand Cross of Makarios III to Professor Nicolaides which is Cyprus’ highest civilian honour.
Professor Nicolaides has been at the forefront of the medical world, both academically and clinically. In October 2020, he was elected to the US National Academy of Medicine- one of the highest honours in the fields of health and medicine. As a pioneer of a number of pivotal advances in fetal medicine, he has revolutionised the care for pregnant women and their babies over the last 35 years. In the academic field, he has over 1,500 peer-reviewed journal articles, with his research having been cited over 130,000 times. CMS UK could not be more humbled to have Professor Nicolaides, a doctor and scientist of this calibre, to support it at its infancy. His experience in the field of medicine is invaluable to our society and we look forward to having him support us in our mission to promote clinical and scientific excellence, whilst providing professional support for Cypriot doctors pursuing a career in the UK.
