In conversation with the Leukemia Cancer Society

CMS UK in collaboration with the Leukemia Cancer Society and Dr Charalampia Kyriakou (Haematology Consultant UCLH) discussed the role of the charity in supporting patients and their families when undergoing treatment for haematological malignancies (blood cancers), such as leukemia.  Amongst other topics we raised the importance of educating and encouraging the young and healthy populations in society to consider becoming stem cell donors. For someone with a haematological malignancy, a stem cell transplant from a matching donor might be their only chance for survival. In Conversation with Immunisation Expert, Dr Kassianos CBE on the COVID-19 vaccines

The Cyprus Medical Society of the UK (CMS UK) and NEPOMAK UK have hosted a Q&A session with Dr Kassianos CBE discussing COVID-19 vaccines. Dr Kassianos is the UK National Immunisation Lead for the Royal College of General Practitioners and heavily involved in the implementation of immunisation services in the UK and internationally. Following the great success of today’s event ‘In conversation with Professor Kypros Nicolaides’, we are delighted and truly honoured to announce that Professor Nicolaides will be the Patron of CMS UK. During the same event, Mr Photiou (the Presidential Commissioner for Oversees Cypriots) announced for the first time that President Anastasiades will award the Grand Cross of Makarios III to Professor Nicolaides which is Cyprus’ highest civilian honour. Our early response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

In March 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus in partnership with the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK summoned a team of doctors based in the UK to offer medical advice and help to the UK Cypriots of the Diaspora and Cypriot nationals. Some of these doctors then became the Founding Members of the Cyprus Medical Society of the UK. Over the last few months, a large volume of calls and emails have been dealt with.
